Tóch | Dig Phase 2 closing events. Weekend beginning 20th February 2026

To close out Phase 2 of Tóch | Dig Intergenerational Community Engagement Project we will be hosting a series of events in Coill Dubh Community Centre  on the weekend beginning 20th February 2026.

 On Friday 20th February, Architects David Jameson and Evelyn D’Arcy from 12th Field (https://www.12thfield.ie/about-us/ ) will give an illustrated talk about Coill Dubh, Frank Gibney and the Bord Na Mona Workers Villages beginning at 8.00pm upstairs in the boardroom of the centre.  The venue is small. Places are limited.Please note, there is no wheelchair access to the upstairs venue. Book your place here The talk will be preceded by the opening of an Art Exhibition by local artists at 7pm in the main hall.  The work will respond to the bog and Coill Dubh Village. Tea/Coffee will be served. 

On Sunday 22nd February, between 11.00 am and 3.30 pm,  Shane Hynan, Sheena Malone and Pamela de Brí will host a series of free workshops as follows:

Shane: Paper-making from peat

Make your own hand-made piece of paper from 100% peat, technique uses a mold and deckle to form sheets from soaked and pulped the peat fibres. 

Sheena: Textile Weaving

Make a strip weaving wall hanging using fabric dyed with plants found in and around the Bog of Allen

Pamela: Introduction to Cyanotype Printing

Cyanotype is a simple 19th century photographic printing process that uses UV light or sunlight to create images of items placed on treated paper or fabric.

Each workshop will last approx. one hour. Participants can experience all three workshops. All materials are supplied. Light lunch provided.
