Launch Event

The launch of Tóch I Dig Phase II took place in Ballyteague GAA Hall on Saturday, 9th August. The launch of Phase II took the format of an informal feedback session on Phase I and an exploratory workshop on the future direction of the project.

Tóch I Dig is, at its heart, rooted in the peatland communities of north Kildare and we wanted to create a space where people could voice their opinions, suggestions and concerns on the future direction of the project. It was also an opportunity for those who attended to help decide on the activities that will take place during Phase II.  Participants from Phase I met potential collaborators in the project’s next phase and discussed topics such as  how to convey the importance of bogs and bog culture to the local community, how participants felt about what is happening currently to the bogs and what stories and anecdotes should be shared. There was a brief discussion on what on our boglands could be.

Currently two days of bus tours to sites of interest in the Bog of Allen are being planned. The object of these events will be to further encourage an intergenerational and interdisciplinary mingling of ideas.

Details of these tours will be confirmed shortly. Please check back here or follow our instagram at https://www.instagram.com/toch_dig/
